If you’re anything like me, planning a birthday party for your child feels exciting—but also a little overwhelming. This year, I planned my son’s birthday, and while I loved celebrating him, the process of finding the right venue in McKinney took some digging. I wanted a place that would keep the kids entertained, take a little stress off me as the parent, and—let’s be honest—create memories my son would actually remember.

  • The Backyard Venue — Private barn venue with both indoor & outdoor space, turf yard, shade under trees; very comfortable.
  • Bonnie Wenk Park — Two playgrounds for different ages, splash pad, trails, pavilions for parties.
  • Erwin Park — Over 100 acres, hiking & biking trails, picnic areas, covered pavilions; great for nature-lover kids.

Final Thoughts

Planning my son’s party taught me that the “best place” depends heavily on your child’s interests, the guest list, your tolerance for weather, and how much help you want from staff.

  • If they’re more calm or crafty, art studios or places like Painting with a Twist allow for creativity & maybe more memory-making moments.
  • Outdoor venues are great when you want space and fresh air —just have a backup plan for heat/rain.
